Thailand leads the global charts as the most searched destination for travel in the next six months, according to Agoda search data. Since last year, international visitor traffic has steadily increased, with Agoda search statistics indicating a 500 percent increase in interest in the first quarter of this year.

Following the local government’s attempts to reinvigorate international tourism with initiatives such as the Thailand Pass and the Sandbox program, Japan (#1), the United States (#2), and Singapore (#3) are the markets most eager to return to Thailand. The United Kingdom (#4), France (#5), and Switzerland (#6) are close behind, with other departure cities in South Korea (#7), the Maldives (#8), the Philippines (#9), and Indonesia (#10) rounding out the top ten.

Agoda has collaborated with Finema, the technology company responsible for the development of the Thailand Pass on behalf of the Department of Consular Affairs (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), in a joint effort with the Department of Disease Control (under the Ministry of Public Health), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and the Digital Government Development Agency, to help with the expected influx of travelers (DGA). This partnership intends to help automate data submissions for bookings, speed up the Thailand Pass application process, and eliminate the risk of errors or delays.

On the Thailand Pass application page, Agoda is available as a check box option. When a user enters their booking ID, the system gathers all necessary information and autofills the application form. Customers will receive immediate confirmation of their booking as well as clear directions for the next steps, which will help to expedite the review process.

Travellers from all over the world are more excited than ever to relax at all-time favorite beach destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Krabi; explore northern hill tribes and heavenly hikes in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai; or simply dig into great street food and the endless shopping experience that Bangkok has to offer.
