Resumption means that the scheduled February through April 2023 Asia cruises will depart as anticipated. Cruising will resume in Japan for the first time in two and a half years, and Holland America Line’s Westerdam is getting ready for a series of itineraries in early 2023 that will let travelers explore places where ancient temples and cultures steeped in tradition coexist with soaring skyscrapers and bustling capitals.

In early 2023, Holland America Line’s Westerdam will embark on a series of itineraries that will allow passengers to visit locations where majestic skyscrapers coexist with ancient temples and cultures steeped in tradition. This will be the first time in two and a half years that cruising will resume in Japan. After a dry dock in Singapore in January, Westerdam, which is presently sailing in Australia and New Zealand, begins the Asia season. Beginning on February 3, the ship will embark on a series of Far Eastern journeys that will highlight the variety of the nations visited and honor histories that have been forged over thousands of years.

Cruises are 11 to 14 days long and depart from Yokohama, Japan, Singapore, or between Yokohama and Singapore. They can be combined to create nonrepeating Collectors’ Voyages. Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia are among the nations investigated. There are five alternative itineraries available, including “Southern Japan,” “Indonesian Discovery,” “Japan, Taiwan & The Philippines,” “Japan Explorer,” and “Japan Discovery.”

Singapore, Kobe and Osaka in Japan, as well as Phuket in Thailand, all have overnight connections. A 14-day “North Pacific Crossing” from Yokohama to Seattle, Washington, where Westerdam will homeport for its Alaska season, marks the end of the season on April 24. Each departure will be uploaded to Holland America Line’s Voyage Lookup service, which enables passengers to see any particular health protocols for their trip, as protocols for sailing in Asia are finalized.

For 150 years, Holland America Line has been traveling the globe with carefully planned itineraries, exceptional service, and real ties to the places. Its fleet, which visits nearly 400 ports in 114 nations across the world and has been sharing the excitement of Alaska for 75 years—longer than any other cruise line—offers an ideal mid-sized ship experience.
