Allowing cruises and cruisetours to sail as published following the Safe Resumption of cruising in Japanese ports. Princess Cruises has announced it will start homeport sailing in Japan on March 15, 2023, in response to the Japanese government’s recent decision to permit the return of foreign cruise ships to the nation. This will allow visitors in the area to take advantage of the simple, individualized Princess MedallionClass experience for the first time.

Beginning on March 15 and sailing for nine days roundtrip from Tokyo, the Japanese-built Diamond Princess makes a comeback to mark the tenth anniversary of sailing from Tokyo (Yokohama) and Kobe. The ship, which was specifically created with the destination in mind, will touch at 38 destinations across four countries on 57 departures with 43 original itineraries lasting between five and nine days. Principal benefits of visiting Japan with Princess in 2023 include:

Temples, Shrines, and Castles – Visitors savor the plethora of great temples and shrines, such as the famous Osaka Castle from the 16th century or Seiryu-ji Temple, home of Japan’s largest bronze seated Buddha.

Seven events are available to experience, including the renowned Kyoto Gion Festival in Japan, which features enormous, expertly made “Yama” and “Hoko” floats that are assembled each year without the use of nails, or the Kumano Fireworks Festival, which features a display of 10,000 fireworks.

Vibrant Cities & Landscapes – Amazing cities where the essence of ancient Japan coexists with the 21st century, such as shopping in Tokyo’s Ginza district, eating regional specialties at surrounding eateries, or visiting the Imperial Palace square. Visitors can awe at Mt. Fuji, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, and the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto thanks to access to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Spring Flowers, Gardens, and Onsens – In the spring, tourists can enjoy the beauty of spring flowers all over Japan, whether they choose to visit a traditional Japanese garden, picnic among thousands of cherry blossoms, take in the meditative atmosphere of quiet parks, or take a geothermal “onsen” natural hot spring bath.

Princess provides 13- or 14-day Highlights of Japan cruisetours, which include a multiple-night land tour paired with the cruise, for people who have more time to see Japan. This gives them more opportunity to discover the attractions of both Tokyo and Kyoto on land. With a fleet of 15 contemporary cruise ships, Princess Cruises, one of the most well-known names in cruising, is the world’s top international premium cruise line and tour operator.

Each year, millions of passengers travel with Princess Cruises to 330 destinations around the world, including the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, Mexican Riviera, Europe, South America, Australia/New Zealand, the South Pacific, Hawaii, Asia, Canada/New England, Antarctica, and World Cruises.
