Poodle Day in Carmel-by-the-Sea Poodle Day is an annual event held in Carmel, California on October 1, 2022, that brings together poodle owners and lovers, as well as their furry companions, for a fun-filled day that includes a parade for poodles, poodle mixes, and their human companions, off-leash beach play, and evening cocktail parties.
Carmel, in addition to being one of California’s premier vacation destinations, is consistently ranked as one of the top ten most dog-friendly cities in America by Dog Fancy. Poodle Day proceeds benefit NorCal Poodle Rescue, which has provided a safe haven for needy poodles and poodle mixes in Northern California and Southern Oregon for over 30 years. NorCal’s mission is to help poodles while also improving the lives of those who adopt them.
Scarecrow Festival in Solvang. On Oct. 1, Santa Ynez Valley merchants will kick off the fall season with the annual Scarecrow Fest and contest. Throughout the month, residents and visitors are invited to vote on their favorite creations. More than 100 businesses participate in the festival, which began in 2010, by displaying zany, quirky, sweet, traditional, Danish, spooky, crazy, and downright funny scarecrows adorning window displays, sidewalks, and park benches. Tourists and locals alike can vote for their favorite scarecrows, which take over Solvang’s quiet streets during the month of October.
The Carmel Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that the Taste of Carmel will return on October 6, 2022, to the beautiful Carmel Mission Basilica. “Long Time No Sea” is the theme for 2022. Taste of Carmel will include live music (The Sea Dogs and The Money Band) and a silent auction in addition to local food and wine. Meet Carmel-by-the-Sea artists, local winemakers, and craft food creators along the Carmel Art Walk on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the third annual Meet the Makers event. Stroll through Carmel-by-the-charming Sea’s downtown and meet the artists who are carrying on the artist colony legacy and tour their galleries while sipping Monterey County wines. This year’s event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and begins at Devendorf Park, where you can pick up your wine glass and stroll through a special exhibit featuring the Carmel Bohemian Painters by local photographer Randy Tunnell.
