Four Seasons will connect guests to Mexican tradition and culture in an all-new, ultra-luxurious nature experience on a secluded peninsula on the Pacific coast surrounded by more than 3000 acres of green rainforest. The all-new Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo, México, is already accepting reservations ahead of its expected late 2022 debut. Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is a monument to Mexico, equally committed to the preservation of the natural scenery, celebration of its country’s deep heritage, and giving the best luxury vacation experience. The Resort will feature 157 contemporary Mexican accommodations, many with private pools, four restaurants and bars, a world-class golf course, a transformative spa and wellness experience, and much more.
The Resort’s distinguishing feature is that only 2% of the adjacent nature reserve will be developed. Guests will be able to build their own version of paradise in this unexplored corner of Mexico, thanks to unique elements such as an on-site working farm, Rancho Ortega, and a Discovery Centre that will serve as an entrance to practically limitless exploration and recreational interests. Puro talento Mexicano, the celebration of Mexican talent across all design disciplines, is an integral part of the Resort’s character, beginning with a collaboration between the country’s greatest contemporary architects, Victor Legorreta and Mauricio Rocha, who came together as LegoRocha specifically for this project.
LegoRocha, together with principal interior designers Uribe Krayer and Estudio Esterlina, infuse pre-Hispanic culture and modern Mexican aesthetics into every area and touchpoint. To complete the Resort’s contemporary Mexican style and feel, the team was joined by landscape designer Mario Schjetnan, as well as restaurant designers Esrawe Studio and Bibiana Huber. From employee wear by Mexico City-based designer Kris Goyri to tableware, hammocks, hampers, candles, and other useful and decorative pieces handcrafted by philanthropic alliances around the country, guests will feel connected to Mexico’s rich legacy and modern lifestyle at every turn.
The Discovery Centre, located in the heart of the Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo, is the beginning point for exploring the Reserve’s natural cycles from ocean to jungle. The Resort’s on-site scientists are ready to show guests to the area’s biodiversity, which includes more than 70 indigenous species of fauna and hundreds of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles that may be found across the Reserve’s more than 3,000 acres (1,220 hectares). While on-site chef’s gardens have become commonplace at many hotels, the Resort team realized the greater potential given by the region’s microclimate, and Rancho Ortega, a 35-acre (14-hectare) working farm, was born.
The cultivation of indigenous and newly introduced plants here, under the vision and supervision of Four Seasons Culinary Director Nicolás Piatti, offers the Resort’s restaurants with true zero-mile, root-to-dish fruit. It also acts as a research facility for rare animals, sustainable agriculture, and creative culinary experimentation. The Resort’s four food and drink outlets will offer settings for everything from starlit dinners to barefoot lunches and opportunities to raise a glass with old and new friends, celebrating the region’s dramatic seasonality and blending traditional flavors with modern techniques and ingredient-forward creativity.
