In Pismo Beach, California, the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel is celebrating its 60th anniversary. It was the second hotel facility erected on the bluffs of Pismo Beach, and it served as a legacy for the classic California town and its faithful travelers when it opened in 1962.

The hotel began 60 years ago with the construction of the center horseshoe-shaped building, which houses the Lobby and overlooks the steep bluffs and sandy beach below. The registration area used to include a six-foot-tall dome-shaped fish tank that could be seen from the outside. The four-story north and south buildings were erected in the early 1980s, bringing the total number of hotel guest rooms and suites to 158. With the traditional floral print bedding and pink jacuzzi hot tubs in each room, the corner suites are featured in past images from that era.

The hotel is situated on 5 acres of parklike grass and drought tolerant gardens, with various terraces with fire pits, gas BBQs, an outdoor heated pool, and three hot tubs, perched on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The family-friendly atmosphere includes immediate beach access and is less than a mile from the Pismo Pier, as well as downtown shops and restaurants. Every night, guests can sit on their patios or balconies and watch the plentiful wildlife swim and fly past, surfers ride the waves, and spectacular sunsets.

The Pismo Pier and promenade area features kid-friendly activities and art pieces, as well as periodic farmer’s markets with live music and food and beverages served from vintage airstream trailers parked right on the Pier. Tourists and locals alike enjoy this laid-back surf town and the numerous outdoor activities available in the surrounding area.

An event will be hosted on the OceanFront Terrace at 2241 Price Street, Pismo Beach, California 93449 on May 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM to mark the 60th Anniversary of the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel. Live music, food, and local brews from Blast & Brew American Taphouse and Eatery, a step-and-repeat photo opportunity, virtual reality experience from SLO Virtua, and promotional freebies are all on the menu for media, community members, and partners.
